March Madness

Wow March has been busy. I really need to blog more.

We started the month off spending a day with our nephew. It was a lot of fun. He is a really great kid.

The most exciting thing this month is that my sister came home from Florida for her Wedding Shower and Bachelorette Party. We had a great time at both events.

Today the staff at my school did the Undy 5000 run/walk. Our assistant principal was diagnosed with colon cancer 1 year ago at age 37. We were also very proud that we had the biggest team in the event's history and we raised the most money this year. Brrrr it was cold. Later today it has snowed about 5 inches.

I was supposed to do my first Thirty One party tonight but the snow caused it to be canceled.

What do I make???

I have to admit that what I make is totally copied off another blogger. I saw these banners on someone else's blog and thought that they were so cute. I made this one for my sister's bridal shower that is two weeks from today.

Other things I make are usually decorations or giveaways for the holidays. Since I never posted pictures from Valentine's day here are some things I made for that.

Southeast Missouri State University- Sigma Sigma Sigma

I began my college career at Southeast Missouri State University Fall 2001. I studied Elementary Education and joined a sorority, Sigma Sigma Sigma. When I began we were the SEMO Indians but we are now the Redhawks.

On February 15, 2003 I met my husband Mitch at a fraternity party.

One of our favorite places to hang out in Cape Girardeau was Cape Rock. That is the Mississippi River you see behind us.

Mitch and I

Something that I am most proud of is that both of my sisters also attended SEMO and joined the same sorority I was in. All three of us also served as president.

Snow Snow Snow

Well here in St. Louis we were expecting a major snow storm. It didn't quite happen but it was still a big mess. Instead of a foot of snow we got about an inch of ice and three inches of snow. Ice is scary. In 2006 we had a major ice storm that left people without electricity for a week. When they were calling for this storm they said this could be a possibility again. I freaked out. Luckily we did not lose electricity!!! We have made it through. I have been off work all week. That's right we had 5 snow days this week and they are calling for more snow next week so who knows how long it will be before we go back to school. I am kinda enjoying not working. Anyway I have been watching a lot of TV since being home bound and I really think that it is nice that TV shows are bringing up infertility. I have been watching the Housewives of New Jersey (not sure what season this is from but it is on regular TV now so I am sure it is a few years old). One of the ladies on there is battling recurrent miscarriages. I am sure money is no object to her and I am sure she can get whatever treatment she wants the show still shows her emotions and feelings of being at fault for losing the babies. Also Grey's Anatomy has briefly mentioned the infertility struggles of Meredith and Derek. Guiliana and Bill is another show that brings up infertility. What other shows out there mention infertility?

Adoption-not yet

I have requested information on adoption. Not that I am anywhere near ready to do that. I just wanted to get some information to look over. The newsletter I was sent had the following in it.

Infertility is not fair! It is heartbreaking, and it affects you spiritually and emotionally! The dream you had of marriage and then kids has been shattered. These are what I have hated and still sometimes hate about infertility:
• Seeing just one pink line each month on the pregnancy test, instead of two
• Hearing the never-ending question: “When are ya’ll going to have kids?”
• Hearing that you can not do a good job in children’s ministry or as a teacher because you do not have children of your own
• Attending baby dedications or infant baptisms
• Living through another Mother’s Day
• Going to Babies R Us
• Being told to “just adopt” and feeling bad because you do not feel led to do it
• Hearing the news that one of your friends or family members is pregnant. On one hand you are excited for them, but on the other hand your heart breaks because you wish it were you. Then you feel bad for not feeling absolutely excited for your loved ones, and then you beat yourself up for being selfish.
• Feeling like you must have some BIG SIN in your life. Why else would you not be pregnant?
• Feeling like you are a science experiment
• Having the most private parts of your body be on display for countless doctors, nurses, and even pre-med students
• Taking vitamins, hormones, and shots
• Doubting your faith and wondering where God is in all of this struggle
• Seeing the “I’m so sorry” look in the nurse’s eyes as she tells you again that you are not pregnant
• Crying in the Wal-Mart checkout line as you buy your “supplies” for your monthly gift
• Hearing another woman say, “We weren’t even trying!”
• Having your arms ache to hold a child
• Hearing people tell you to “just relax, and it will just happen.”
The biggest change in my relationship with the Lord that happened during my infertility journey was that my love for God is now based on WHO HE IS and not on what He gives me!
Even though I have a child now—through the help of hormones, shots, and treatment—my heart still aches. Because now that my daughter is 18 months old, the questions are coming again: “When are you going to have another one?”
Through my struggle with infertility, the words of Matt Redman’s song, “You Never Let Go” helped me find comfort in the Lord. My favorite line is “still I will praise you, still I will praise you!”
Today as we sang the song in church, God reminded me of the lessons of grace, mercy, and faithfulness that He had already taught me. So today I can again say, “Still I will praise you, LORD !”

Back to Work

After a much needed Christmas Break I headed back to work yesterday. The kids seem excited to be back and it is nice to have a routine again. I just sleep in too much when I don't have to work. I have also been exercising more. Yesterday and today I walked before and after school. I have also been trying to eat healthier. We will see how it goes. I always do well for a while and then get off track. Let's hope for the best.
