100th post

This is my 100th post. That is really kinda exciting. I started blogging to talk about my feelings as we go through infertility. I continue to write about that but I also write about every day stuff now too. I really like it this way. It is nice to go back and see what we have done.

Since the start of blogging we have continued to struggle with infertility. On Saturday we celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary. This was such an exciting day and such an accomplishment. However as our anniversary comes every year I stop to think that it is another year spent trying to start a family. 5 years trying to start a family. I don't think that I would change that though. I am thankful for these five years and I really feel that Mitch and I are in the right place.

We are getting ready to do some treatments and I hope things go well for us. I have lost some weight and have been trying to live a healthier lifestyle. I also recently was told that I will be making some changes next year at work. Currently I work with students with behavior issues. I love it and hate it all at the same time. My job requires me to deal with aggressive children that have many problems. I have made the decision to switch to kids with learning disabilities. This will be good  since it will not be so hands on.

Mitch has also got some exciting news at work. He is interviewing for a promotion. I am hoping for the best for him. He would be working all day shift with this promotion and would have the opportunity to take holidays off. He is currently off on the weekends now so I am good with that too. We are just seeing how things play out.

Yard work

We spent a good part of today outside despite the hot weather. We did a little yard work. Once we got to hot we came in and had bread co for lunch. We have just been relaxing since then.

Winery 4-7-12

I went to the winery with some friend from college. It was really fun to see everyone.

EASTER 4-8-12

Easter is one of those days where it would be fun to have kids. It is so neat to see all of the kids egg hunting and going through their baskets. As much as I can't wait for that I wasn't to sad on Easter. After reading God's Fertility Clinic I am trying to thank God for giving me a good life. Lately I have really been feeling at ease about having kids. I feel like our upcoming treatments are going to work. We seem to have it all together and are ready to bring a baby into our lives. I just feel really positive about it.

Food Habits

Since the beginning of January I have lost 18 1/2 pounds. This has been a journey that I am really proud of. Throughout that time I have not starved myself and I have eaten healthy and not so healthy. I have exercised consistently for 3 months and I am learning to make healthier food choices. Do I still eat fast food? yup Do I still super size it? yes, occasionally. I think I have found a good balance between eating a treat and working out. I think it is ok to have sweets as long as I get some exercise.

For Lent this year I gave up soda. I really like the way soda tastes. It is just so yummy but I felt really good giving it up. I did have a soda yesterday and it was ok. I couldn't drink it from a straw because I just had my wisdom teeth out but it did not taste as good as it used to. After the soda I drank water. I have some ideas why I think soda is bad for me. I watched Hungry for a Change last week when people were posting it. Here is what I came away with in regards to soda. I have not had nearly as many headaches as I used to get when I drank soda. Is this because of the artificial sweetener (I drank diet sometimes) or is because I have been drinking more water so I am more hydrated?? Not sure. Another thing I took from the movie was that diet sodas cause carb cravings. WHAT???? I thought diet soda was better for you than the full flavor stuff. Where did I go wrong??

Two other things that I took from the movie:
Bread turns straight into sugar = BAD
High Fructose Corn Syrup = yummy = BAD

Country March 31, 2012

My dad and his sister always talk about going "down to the county" when they were kids. I live in a pretty populated area just outside of St. Louis so I didn't really grow up in the country. For the past couple of years we go down the country about once a year. We were not planning on going since I had the race but on the way home from the race I asked Mitch if he wanted to go and he said sure. I was a really fun day playing in the outdoors.  We walked in a small river, cooked outside, and even shot guns.

Oh yeah and we saw this-a copperhead. Good thing it was dead.

Undy 5000 March 31, 2012

On March 31st I completed my first 5K. This has been a big accomplishment for me. I starting running in January and could only run for about a minute at a time.

Indoor yard sale

On Saturday I signed up to sell Thirty One at an indoor yard sale. I didn't really sell any Thirty One products but I did find a few good deals. I got this book for 25 cents.
These were 50 cents. I am excited to use these for adding in my classroom.

I didn't get this at the sale. I bought it off Amazon and I am looking forward to reading it. We also saw October baby this weekend. Makes you really think about how awful abortion is.

Running update

Mitch made a really yummy salad for dinner tonight. It had spinach, cheese, dried fruit, pecans, and raspberry poppy seed dressing. Not sure how many weight watcher points this is. I didn't track today because I had Chinese food for lunch so I figured I pretty much blew my points there.
I ran 3.1 miles today. That means I know I can  make it to the finish in the 5K on the 31st. lol Its good to know that I can finish it without dying. I just hope I am not the last person to finish the race.
